The co-op, incubated by the Clean Car Wash Worker Center, wants to reshape the car wash industry in Los Angeles.

Nearly $700,000 of the total fine levied against the company will go to repaying workers, according to the CDIR Labor Commissioner’s Office.

The violations were discovered after the CLEAN Carwash Worker Center spoke to workers about conditions as part of their regular outreach program.

The investigation concluded some employees were only paid for about 80 hours in a pay period even though they had worked beyond that. Others were forced to wait before clocking in and were never compensated for their waiting time.
